Jakarta Coffee
Jakarta Coffee was prompted by my Corporate Identity class. The prompt was to create a coffee brand identity for Valerie and Brendan Jones. Valerie and Brendan Jones, inspired by a transformative coffee experience in Indonesia, opened Jakarta Coffee in San Francisco. Their mission is to craft exceptional coffee, foster sustainability through composting and recycling, and support local causes like the Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy. They aim to provide a stellar customer experience while making a positive impact on their community. My goal was to create a cohesive identity while staying true to the Jakarta brand. My logo features a flower; the flower is multifaceted. It is supposed to represent an abstract water droplet logo to portray the drip coffee, which is generally a traditional way to consume coffee in Indonesia. The flower is also supposed to mimic flower designs from the 70s, reflecting the laidback and free-spirited nature of the coffee shop, also representing the Rafflesia arnoldii, which is the largest flower in the world hailing from Indonesia. I decided to enter this project into the Student Art Exhibition at Columbia College and received an Honorable Mention award for digital art!
